A Level Law - Criminal Law (Offences Against Property)
Stella and her friend Tina went for a meal in a restaurant. At the end of the meal, they paid separately and Stella realised that drinks she had ordered and consumed had not been included on her bill. When the cashier asked her to check the bill, Stella said that it was fine. As they left, a waiter said to Tina, "Do not forget this, madam", and put something into her shopping bag which she assumed was some advertising for the restaurant. Later in the day, Tina discovered that the waiter had actually put a purse containing £60 into her bag, presumably thinking that she had left it behind. Tina subsequently spent the £60. They went to a department store where Stella used her sister's store card to buy a pair of shoes and Tina saw some underwear that she really wanted to buy but felt that she could not afford. She took it to the changing room with the idea of trying to put it on and leave the store whilst still wearing it. However, Vera, the changing room attendant, became suspicious and Tina pushed her over before throwing the underwear down and running out of the store.
