Introduction

Gun politics is something which has been debated for quite along time by many countries and a good example to explain this is in America whereby there has been a growing debate on whether guns should be controlled or not. Gun politics is one of the efforts in order to stop the rise in the many crimes and this can only be achieved through the establishment of laws on the ownership of the guns. The possession of firearms in America should only be left on the legal people and these are the military and occasionally the police. Many people tend to argue that Guns should not be controlled for the safety of human beings while at the same time many criminals argue that they should be controlled for their own safety. You find that gun politics is a legal term and an issue which is seen to surround the ownership of guns, their use plus also the regulation of these guns. There are also safety issues which are said to be related with the firearms both in the direct use of these guns and legal criminal use. The nature of the gun politics is said to depend on both local political jurisdiction and national jurisdiction respectively. (Bridges, 1998).

Many nations are said to have the power to control their people and the only way they can be seen to protect its citizens is through the use of these guns so that they can be in a position to fight criminals, fight against their neighbors who tend to invade countries say the issue with terrorists and this is seen as a fundamentals power of the sovereign state. Despite this particular sovereign power, you tend to find that some nations tend to lose this sovereignty by certain circumstances. One of the most visible issues under debate today in America is that whether the federal government should regulate the possession of the firearms by most of the individuals today. Some of the methods which have been applied to regulate these firearms are by making it hard for those individuals who would wish to buy these firearms. This is achieved through the strictly selling of these arms by the members who are recognized by the federal states, by improving the safety of these guns and also by regulating sales at gun shows. Through the paper, am going to talk about pro/ anti guns in America. Since majority of citizens in America are for legalizing of guns for self protection, first am going to give pros on the use and legalization of all citizens in America to use guns. (Michael, 2000).

Arguments against

Many people in America argue that people should be allowed to use guns for their self protection but not only limited to the military forces. A good example to support their argument is the accident which happened at California University when a student who was in possession of a gun killed so many students. They argue that if the students were allowed to have guns that have controlled this tragedy from happening since many students were killed at this particular university. Controls often create huge burdens for the law abiding citizens and they tend also to infringe constitutional rights which are said to be provided by the second amendment. the widespread gun ownership is said to be one of the good deterrents to most of the crimes plus the potential tyranny in that if people despite whether they are the members of the public or even the police when allowed to posses these guns, everybody will be in a position to control himself in that since everybody has a gun, it will tend to be more secure. A good example to explain this is in US whereby these people have been always in an obsession to posses guns as a matter of security to everyone. The laws in U.S. allow that every citizen has the right to access these guns. This is because you find that the police have not been so much effective in the security purposes hence the increasing rate of crimes in most of the societies. So I believe that if every member of that country is given the mandate to own guns, then you will find that the cases of crimes will decrease because people will have self defense mechanism and this is through possession of these guns. So I tend to see that gun control is not an issue but should be legalized that every citizen should have these guns for the security purposes. (Lott, 2000).

You will also find that if guns are outlawed, it is not the end to these criminals since they will tend to use swords instead. This is because if people are not allowed to use these guns, they will adapt their behaviors and start using other harmful tools like swords as was used in most of the traditional societies. This will lead to more evils in the citizens in that since these swords are small things to carry say the use of a knife, many people will be tempted to carry them on the streets hence leading to more evils and deaths. So I think the best thing here is to establish rights that allow every citizen to have access to these guns since it will act as a sign of self defense when confronted by these criminals hence ending the rate of criminals in most of the societies in America today. (Beam, 2001).

There are so many groups which are against gun control and one of the groups is the NRA group in America. This is one of the groups which is said to be more against the federal regulations in the control of the guns to the members of the public whether criminal or not. NRA is one of the groups in the United States who tend to argue that with the second amendment of the United States constitution which is said to guarantee that all the citizens of the country should have the mandate to possess guns and carry them whenever they want. The main argument with this group is that if people are allowed to carry guns, it will be much safer for them since they will be in a position to fight back the criminals. This is because most of the criminals have these guns hence becoming hard to eliminate them. So when every individual has the right to own and carry the guns, the society will be a society free from these criminals. (Brown, 2003).

Arguments for gun control

There are two arguments here and one is Anti-gun argument and the second one is the pro-gun advocates. In the anti-gun arguments, I see that the illegal gun possession is one of the major cause of the violent crimes which tend to arise in a number of societies hence threatening peoples life’s and a good example is in the America. Gun control is the best way to go hence citizens should not be allowed to possess these guns since when people are allowed to posses guns, it will lead to more criminals, juveniles plus other high risk individuals since when they are allowed to posses these guns; they will tend to threaten the members of the public so much. So, if these criminals are allowed to posses these guns, then the issue of insecurity will increase because they will tend to use these guns to do so many arms like stealing among other things. Insecurity will increase since there will be no difference between the police and the criminals since if they have guns just like the police, no one will protect the citizens. It’s the federal measures which can successfully reduce the availability of guns with these criminals since these criminals are threatening peoples life’s so much. The biggest question here is how these people possessed these guns? This is one of the biggest questions which so many people have not been in a position to answer simply because there is an increasing rate of gun possession by majority of the criminals today in America. (Doyle, 2001).

Gun control is so much necessary in the today’s society since its one of the ways of controlling insecurities in the society. So when these individuals are denied the access of these guns, the criminal rates will decrease in that they usually use these guns to threaten people’s life when stealing or even smuggling goods from their owners. The rate of murder rate will also decrease since most of the people have lost their lives through these criminals. This is because they tend to shoot people when someone tries to defend himself. The criminal’s possession of guns has no purpose to the societies. This is because they serve no purpose and nothing important these people do but just threatening people lives. Accidental shootings will also tend to decrease in most of the children since of the many cases of children who have been wrongly killed by these people. (Kennedy, 2000).

Laws should be enacted to ensure that people can live in their country at peace. With stronger gun control laws, the murder plus the crime rates will tend to decrease all across the country. The key thing here is the more difficult we make for someone to buy a gun, then the fewer people will tend to posses them. When laws have been enacted fully with severe punishment for those people who are caught in the possession of these guns, then the less the people will have them. This is because people will be afraid of been caught with them and hence as a result, it will make less likely of someone to use it hence controlling gun use by most of the people. (Kennedy, 2000).

Currently, it’s so easy for people to have these guns. This is because you could find that majority of the criminals plus the mentally unstable individuals had guns. I can remember of a case study whereby one certain insane policeman was in a position of a gun. This policeman was given this gun despite his mental status. The shocking thing here is that he went to the nearest marketing center and started shooting people any howly claiming that they were criminals but they were not. It was simply because he was out of his mind. He killed so many people the matter could be taken to the police for action. This particular case study then is good evidence that there should be gun control to majority of the people. The police should be tested mentally to ensure that they are fit to possess these guns due to the many cases we have heard of the police shootings simply because they are not mentally fit. A good example to explain this is in England whereby they have illegalized gun possession to people except to the military and the occasionally the police. Its is through these that most of the crimes which are influenced by the possession of these guns will tend to decrease. (Doyle, 2001).

Summary

In summary, gun control is one of the controversial issues which many countries should be talking about today. This is as a result of the increasing rates of crimes and deaths by so many people have left their lives with no with no good reason. If everybody is allowed the right to posses these guns, it will mean that there will be no need of the military and the police force. This is because they tend to differentiate themselves from the criminals in the possession of the firearms but if everybody on the streets has guns, it will make no use hence meaning that there will be so many criminals and deaths coming upon. Laws should be enacted by the federal; states to ensure that people do not access these guns and those people who are found in the access of the guns, a severe punishment should be imposed on this particular person to act as a warning to the rest of the individuals whop would also wish to have them.

Conclusion

From these arguments, it’s upon us to determine which position to take since we have seen that every group has strong arguments on the arguments for and against the possession of these guns. It is upon the federal states to determine the correct position to stand in. From my own opinion, I tend to think that gun control is very much important especially to the criminals in possession of these guns. The possession of the firearms should only be left to the military and the police only. As a result, you will find that most of the criminals, murder cases and the shooting of wrong individuals especially children who are said to have fallen victims of wrong shootings will eventually end.
