Law Dissertation Proposals
In order to generate your dissertation proposal, you will need to consider the approach that you are going to take with your chosen topic. You may carry out a case study, perform a survey or use the experimental style. Whichever way you choose you need to ensure that the topic concentrates on the problem at hand and that you keep your research organised.
Once you have decided on the approach that you are going to take, now’s the time to come up with the proposal. This is done by:
- Creating an introduction to the proposed area of study
- Defining aims of the research project - what do you hope to achieve overall? Is there a hypothesis that needs to be answered?
- Detailing the main objectives of the research project - what do you hope to find out?
- Listing your methodology / methods - state why have you chosen these methods and why not other methods.
- Considering the scope and limitations of the study - is there anything that is beyond the scope of investigation? Why? (e.g. cost/time constraints)
- Listing resources - what sources do you expect you will use? Where will you find your information?
- Creating a timetable - proposed timetable for completion of each section.
- Proposing chapter headings
- Compiling references - any references used (for example, when writing the introduction)
