The European Union's history started in three European communities:
1951 Paris established the European Coal and Steel Community
1957 Rome established the European Atomic Energy Community and the European Economic Community
1967 June the 1 st all three comunities which had established common institutions started to apply "European Community" term.
European Community oficially became as an European Union after 1993 nowember 1 st, when the Treaty of Maastricht came in force (signed in February 1992, 7 June).
Under the Maastricht Treaty, here are the European Union's three components (pillars):

In 1950 May 9, Robert Schumann, (French Foreign Affairs Minister) presented the idea of the two European countries, an economic union (France and the FRG). This was the beginning of ECSC. The European Union's predecessor - the European Coal and Steel alliance - founders are the following six countries which in 1951, 18 of April Paris, signed the agreement which came into force in 1952, 23 of July:

1957 march 25, these countries signed the Treaty of Rome (European Economic Community and Euratom), which came into force in 1958 1st of January.
In 1967 are easdtabilished the following general European Parliament (Assembly), the European Commission and European Council.
In 1973 the following countires also joined the European Union:
East German unification of East and West Germany, the EU has expanded the territory of former communist German Democratic Republic.

The European Union (EU for short) is a twenty-seven countries economic and political community. Its predecessor is the 1957 Treaty of Rome in six European countries created the European Economic Community (EEC). The 13 EU single currency - the euro. The European Commission is the EU's executive body, legislature, is responsible for its day to day policies. The Commission shall represent the entire European Union and the Council of opponent, which is owned by Union leaders, who defend their national interests. The Commission also regulates the integration, it is represented by one commissioner from each member country, so the current is number is 27.

European Union Parliament consists of half a legislature body. Its 785 members (MEPs) every five years, directly elects EU citizens. Each EU state has the number of seats in Parliament (it depends on the size of the country, in non officially - of the impact as well). Parliament and the Council, enacts laws, collaboration and different political positions - by unanimous consent. Parliament also has the right to reject or not to approve the decisions of the European Union budget. European Parliament is led and presented by Speaker of Parliament. The chairman and vice-chairman is elected by parliament every two and a half year.
