FA to help fight financial crime Inside Football

THE potential for criminals to use clubs for money laundering is now considered so serious that the FA's Financial Advisory Unit (FAU) will soon issue new guidelines for teams to help them to fight the threat.
The FAU, which already advises clubs on other financial issues, such as paying VAT and PAYE bills and the minimum wage, is preparing an information pack on how to put checks in place to meet the requirements of recent legislation, such as the Money Laundering Regulations 2003, and the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
