I’ve been asked to enter a passcode when making payment – why?

Due to new rules implemented by banks and card providers in 2019, you may now be asked to confirm payments you make on occasion. This is usually done via a one-time passcode sent by your bank – it could be sent via SMS, email, or a special app provided by your bank.

These rules have been implemented to make your payments more secure and verify that you are indeed the person making payment. This is called Strong Customer Authentication. If you’re asked to enter a passcode, you must do this in order to complete your payment.

Your bank or card provider will be in touch to set up your passcodes – so be sure your details are kept up to date so your bank can contact you quickly and efficiently. If you cannot receive the passcode being sent by your bank, you may not be able to complete your payment.
