We're updating every lecture

If you’ve used LawTeacher before, you’ll know that we offer one of the most comprehensive collections of free law lecture notes available anywhere online. Thousands of law students across the UK and beyond rely on our lectures every week to support their studies.

But the law doesn’t stand still – and neither should we.

For 2026, we’re undertaking a complete review of every lecture on the site. That means going through each one line by line to make sure it reflects the current state of the law. Where things have changed, we’re rewriting. Where things were unclear, we’re improving. And where new cases or legislation need to be covered, we’re adding them in.

What’s changing?

The scope of the updates varies from lecture to lecture, but broadly we’re doing the following across the board:

  • Removing outdated content – for example, many of our public law lectures still discussed EU law as though the UK were a member state. We’re rewriting these sections to reflect the UK’s departure from the EU, the repeal of the European Communities Act 1972, and the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023.
  • Adding new cases and legislation – the law has moved on significantly in many areas. We’re incorporating recent Supreme Court decisions, new statutes, and updated academic commentary where relevant.
  • Correcting errors – over the years, a small number of inaccuracies have crept in: misspelled case names, incorrect dates, garbled citations. We’re fixing every one we find.
  • Improving descriptions and metadata – we’re rewriting the summary description for every lecture so that it clearly tells you what the lecture covers, making it easier to find the right content when you’re searching.

Our aim is simple: every lecture on LawTeacher should be something you can rely on with confidence – accurate, up to date, and clearly written.

Why does this matter?

If you’re a law student, you already know how important it is to cite current law. Relying on outdated notes can cost you marks – or worse, lead you to a fundamentally wrong answer in an exam or coursework. The difference between a first-class answer and a mediocre one often comes down to whether you’ve engaged with the law as it stands today, not as it stood five years ago.

That’s why we’re doing this. We want LawTeacher to be the resource you turn to first, knowing that what you’re reading is current and reliable.

Other free resources you might not know about

While we’ve got your attention, it’s worth mentioning that our lecture notes are just one part of what we offer. If you haven’t explored the rest of the site, here are a few tools and resources that students find particularly useful:

  • Case law database – our searchable database of case summaries covers hundreds of key cases across all major subject areas. Each entry gives you the facts, the legal issue, and the decision – ideal for quick revision or for building up your case knowledge before an exam.
  • Free OSCOLA referencing tool – if you’ve ever struggled with getting your footnotes and bibliography right, this tool takes the pain out of it. Just enter the details of your source and it generates a correctly formatted OSCOLA reference for you.
  • Act summaries – we provide clear, concise summaries of key UK statutes, breaking down the most important sections and explaining what they do in plain English. These are a great starting point when you’re approaching a new piece of legislation for the first time.
  • Free student-written law essays – and the vast majority now have an update box at the bottom, so you can check the essay is still legally accurate.

All of these resources are completely free to use, just like our lectures.

Need a bit more help?

Our lectures and free tools are a great starting point, but sometimes you need something more tailored. We have a team of legally qualified professionals covering UK, US and Australian law who can help with a wide range of academic work. Whether you need an essay or dissertation written to your specifications, research support for a PhD, or just a second pair of eyes to proofread, mark or edit something you’ve already written – we’re here to help.

Updated lectures

We’ll be adding to this list as each lecture is reviewed and updated. If you’ve bookmarked a particular lecture, it’s worth checking back – the content may have been significantly improved since you last visited. Every updated lecture is also marked with an updated date on the page itself, so you can see at a glance that you’re reading the most current version.
